Favorite Embroidery Patterns

Amish Bread

BREAD STARTER

1 c. Flour
1/2 c. Sugar
1 c. Warm Water
1 Tbl. Yeast

COFFEE CAKE BATTER

2/3 c. Oil
1-1/4 tsp. Baking Powder
1 tsp. Vanilla
1/2 tsp. Salt
1 c. Sugar
3 x Eggs
2 c. Flour
1 tsp. Cinnamon
1/2 tsp. Baking Soda
1 x Nuts, Raisins or Fruit


STREUSEL TOPPING

1/3 c. Butter - Melted
2 tsp. Cinnamon
1/2 c. Sugar
1/2 c. Quick Oats
1/2 C. Brown Sugar, Packed
1 c. Nuts

STARTER: Mix in all ingredients well and place into a GLASS bowl. Cover loosely with a lid or plate.

Let stand overnight in a warm place.

Stir each day (Do NOT use a metal spoon) until the 5th day, then add l cup flour, l cup milk and l cup sugar. Stir the 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th days.

On the 10th day add l cup flour, 1 cup milk and 1 cup sugar.

Then remove 3 cups of starter. (Give one cup to each of two friends with the instructions of feeding,ect.)

To the remaining starter add the ingredients for the coffee cake batter, Combine all the batter ingredients, mixing well.

Pour half the batter into a greased 9 x 13 inch pan. Mix together the streusel topping ingredients.

Pour half into pan. Cover with the remaining batter. Top with the rest of the streusel.

Bake at 350 degrees F for 40 - 50 minutes, or until cake tests done

Great Coffee Cake with a Cup of Tea What a Way To Go

Sharing a favorite recipe.

AMISH COFFEE CAKE

2 c. light brown sugar
2 c. flour
3/4 c. shortening
1 egg
2 tsp. vanilla
1 c. hot coffee
1 tsp. soda

Mix sugar, flour and shortening until lumpy. Do not mix until creamy. Take out 1 cup for topping. Dissolve soda in hot coffee and add to the flour mixture. Also, add egg and vanilla. Spread on sheet pan 9 x 12 x 2 inch and sprinkling on topping.

This is a thin batter. Bake at 325-350 degrees approximately 30 minutes. Sprinkle with powdered sugar after baked.

At Last, Forever Request



Finally, got the recipe book out and made what my friends ask me for all the time. This time I called it "Real Gold" because I used the fragrance by that name. My favortie Bath Salts. I use them and swear by them. Put two tablespoons in your bath water and I use Palmoive Dishwasher Soap, the combination is fabulous. Every bone in your body can be aching and when you come out of the tub, they are gone....
